Welcome to the Defective Block Ireland Redress Group Website

Defective Block Redress Group

Established in 2021, we are an active group of campaigners seeking redress for property owners affected by Mica, Pyrite and other deleterious material known to be found in concrete blocks across Ireland over the last number of years. To date, we have tested and analysed properties ranging from as far back as the 1980’s up until August 2020. We have uncovered discrepancies over planning applications, failures to impose market surveillance by county councils and failure to impose standards and regulations by the Irish Government. We have submitted scientific research and legal information to MEP’s in Europe, as well as to the NSAI and other government bodies. We are also assisting property owners who wish to take legal action to seek redress for rebuilding their home.

This site is dedicated to providing important information, news and updates to property owners affected by mica, pyrite and sulphides in Ireland.

Due to poor regulations, lack of enforcement and bad practices, approximately 20,000 houses and commercial buildings that were built with defective concrete blocks are cracking across Ireland mainly in Donegal, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Limerick and Tipperary.
